Hello!
Originally born in Idaho, I've lived in the northwest until I graduated and joined the Army Band playing French Horn in Wiesbaden, Germany. I LOVE to travel, so living in Germany was wonderful. I had the pleasure of visiting almost every country in Europe :) After my 4-year stint in Germany, I married a fellow bandsman, James, and we went off to be stationed in Lawton, Oklahoma. After 4 years attending the University of Oklahoma, I received my Bachelor's for Environmental Science. We trekked on up to Alaska after getting orders to Ft. Wainwright. I spent 2 1/2 years as a Project Manager for SGS Environmental Services and decided to go back to school to get my teaching certificate~as well as my Masters degree in Education. I love to work with others and teach others, especially math...it's SUCH a great subject...just very few people feel the love for it :( I love to teach and consider it one of the hardest things I've ever done...even harder than motherhood!
About 3 years ago, my family started looking at teaching overseas. Entranced by the opportunities this presented to us, we kept looking for the right located, the right school with a truly international experience....As fate would have it, Qatar picked us and we packed up and moved pretty half-way across the world into a climate completely opposite of the one we are so very accustomed to. While it has been a huge change, we are super happy to be here in Qatar at GEMS American Academy school.
Some Mrs. Castleberry Fun Facts
My middle name is "Rae"
My personality general matches my name
I've dreamt of traveling to New Zealand
I hate crowded places
I'm a day person
I got a tooth knocked out with a golf-club
I absolutely LOVE pugs!
I broke my arm snowboarding (my very first and last time)
My favorite color depends on the day, although I'm partial to both yellow and deep turquoise
If I wasn't teaching, I would have been a vet or marine biologist, even an animal rescuer
I was on the swim team and golf team back in high school
My least favorite subject in school was History and English (although i understand now how important they are...)
